So the aim of the Mongol Rally is to take a car with an engine of 1 litre or less and drive it to Mongolia, and the cheaper the car the better. It is a challenge because a 1 litre hatchback is woefully inadequate to drive to Mongolia over 10,000 miles, through deserts and over mountains.
We bought a 2002 Perodua Kelisa, this was then crashed on a trip to Europe and was beyond economical repair.
So our trusty steed now takes the form of a 1992 Nissan Micra K10. While being over 20 years old, it seems in fairly good nick for its age and we hope it will get us to Mongolia without too much trouble.
